  • Rinse under warm water

  • Repeat until clean

Option A – Air drying:

  • Spread seeds on a clean towel
  • Let dry 2–4 days in a ventilated area

Option B – Oven drying:

  • 100–120°C (210–250°F)
  • 1–2 hours
  • Door slightly open
  • Stir occasionally

Seeds must be completely dry before roasting.

Step 4: Roasting the Date Seeds

Roasting develops flavor.

Oven Method (Best for beginners)

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
  2. Spread seeds on baking tray
  3. Roast for 30–45 minutes
  4. Stir every 10 minutes

Color change:

  • Light roast → light brown (mild flavor)
  • Medium roast → dark brown (coffee-like)
  • Dark roast → very dark (bitter, smoky)

Most people prefer medium to dark roast.

Let seeds cool completely after roasting.

Pan Method (Alternative)

  • Use heavy pan
  • Medium heat
  • Stir continuously
  • 30–40 minutes
